Never abruptly discontinue acetaminophen and codeine phosphate tablets in patients who could be physically dependent on opioids. Rapid discontinuation of opioid analgesics in patients that are bodily dependent on opioids has resulted in critical withdrawal symptoms, uncontrolled pain, and suicide.
